This Privacy Policy explains how Dawn L. Saunders ("I," "me," "my") collects, uses, and shares information when you visit dawnsaunders.com (the "Site"). I keep this simple on purpose. If anything is unclear, email me at dsaundersesol@gmail.com.
1. Information I collect
Information you give me. When you subscribe to my letters, send a message through the contact form, or submit a speaking inquiry, I receive what you choose to share, such as your name, email address, organization, event details, and the content of your message.
Information collected automatically. When you browse the Site, analytics tools collect information such as your IP address, general location (city or region), browser and device type, pages viewed, links clicked, referring website, and how you move through a page (scrolling, clicks, and mouse movement).
Cookies. The Site uses cookies and similar technologies to make the analytics tools below work. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The Site will still work.
2. Analytics tools I use
Google Analytics. I use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit the Site and which pages they read. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects usage data as described above. Microsoft Clarity. I partner with Microsoft Clarity to capture how visitors use and interact with the Site through behavioral metrics, heatmaps, and session replay, so I can improve the Site. Usage data is captured using first-party and third-party cookies and other tracking technologies, and may be used by Microsoft for site optimization, fraud and security purposes, and advertising. 3. How I use information
I use the information above to:
- Send you my letters, if you subscribed
- Reply to your messages and speaking inquiries
- Understand how the Site is used and make it better
- Keep the Site secure and prevent abuse
- Comply with the law
I do not sell your personal information.
4. Who I share information with
I share information only with service providers that help me run the Site, and only as needed for them to do their job:
- Google (analytics)
- Microsoft (analytics and session replay)
- Substack (newsletter delivery; your subscription is also governed by Substack's own privacy policy)
- Webflow (site hosting and form submissions)
I may also disclose information if required by law or to protect my rights or the safety of others.
5. Links to other websites
The Site links to other websites, including Amazon, Substack, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. When you leave the Site, the other website's privacy policy applies. Book purchases happen entirely on Amazon; I never see or store your payment information.
6. Children's privacy
I write books for children, but this Site is intended for adults: parents, caregivers, educators, and readers. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information through the Site, email me at dsaundersesol@gmail.com and I will delete it.
7. Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe. Every letter includes an unsubscribe link.
- Cookies. Use your browser settings or the consent banner on the Site to decline analytics cookies.
- Access and deletion. You can ask me what personal information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it by emailing dsaundersesol@gmail.com.
Depending on where you live (for example, California, the European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom), you may have additional rights under local law, including the right to object to certain processing and to lodge a complaint with a regulator. I will honor valid requests regardless of where you live.
8. Data retention
I keep contact and inquiry messages for as long as needed to respond and maintain a record of the conversation. Analytics data is retained according to the default retention settings of Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity.
9. Security
I use reputable service providers and reasonable safeguards, but no website can guarantee absolute security. Please do not send sensitive personal information through the Site's forms.
10. Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top will show when it was last revised.
