Every day is a new beginning.

Author Dawn L. Saunders seated, smiling

I'm Dawn L. Saunders. I taught elementary school for 34 years, and now I write books for grown-ups and little ones about courage, belonging, and starting again.

I am a teacher, an immigrant, a mother, and a survivor. I am a woman who lost an arm and a leg and kept her faith, her humor, and her golf swing. I am proof that every day is a new beginning.

My recent books

One is for grown-ups who need a reminder of what they're made of. One is for children who need to hear that they belong. Both come from the same place.

Letters from Dawn.

I write letters the old-fashioned way: honestly, and to one person at a time. They just happen to arrive by email. Ten so far, on the ICU, dialysis, coming home, and learning to live differently.
