My path
I earned my bachelor of science in early childhood education from Long Island University, and my master’s degree in urban studies and ESOL from Florida International University. My career started in Brooklyn, New York, in the private sector, then moved to the public education system in South Florida. I also worked at the college level, preparing ESOL students with writing, speaking, and time-management skills.
My new beginning
A sudden illness took my arm and my leg. It did not take my faith, my family, or my stubbornness. I told that story in my memoir, Dawn. A New Beginning, and I carried its lesson into my first children’s book, Mighty Acorn Academy: Loren’s Brave New Start.
Today
I live in South Florida, close to my daughter, Alexandria, and my son, John-David, and his family.
